Alex’s love of music began early. At the age of five, he began studying piano in the classical tradition and by sixteen he was working with the professor of jazz piano at the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music. Alex soon became a mainstay of the Cincinnati jazz scene, gaining valuable lessons by working with local legends such as John Von Ohlen, Bob Bodley, Art Gore, and Mike Wade.

In his time as a young professional he was also given the opportunity to work with nationally recognized jazz artists like Carl Allen, Lynn Seaton, Slide Hampton, and Maria Schneider. Alex has done various tours in Asia with vocalist, Mandy Gaines. In September 2001, Alex moved to New York and studied with Fred Hersch (Palmetto recording artist and winner of the 2003 Guggenheim Memorial Fellowship) in a further effort to develop his talents as a composer and pianist. Since 2003, he has been the pianist for the famous Tommy Dorsey Orchestra, playing throughout the country and abroad. In 2004, the New York based jazz quartet, Confluence (of which he is a member), released an album on the For The Artist record label.

He currently holds a Bachelor of Music from the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music and has benefited greatly from the experience of learning from gifted and caring teachers. He has been teaching piano lessons of all styles to all ages in the New Canaan area since 2002 and considers it a great joy to have the opportunity to share music with others.

Alex is available Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays
